I wouldn't feel too sorry for him - he's a nasty little man. Re-read the emails. Read how he kept coming up with new ways to fob off Steve McIntyre's requests for data and methodology. He did so in order to cover up his own abysmal record-keeping and scientific methods. He also asked his subordinates to delete all emails concerning this. So, yes, one could say that he 'wrote some awful emails'. Good grief - what a turd. He is a career educationalist. Has been in school all his life. Knows how to play university politics. Shock, horror, he didn't realise he was actually providing pivotal scientific datasets to the world at large. Datasets which were not audited, not peer-reviewed, not double-checked by anybody. Simply his own construction, for which he has lost the raw data! Bad scientist, pathetic liar, contributor to misinformation and deceit on a global scale.
